-30th June 2003 and formed part of the Recreation by Design exhibition
along with Richard Rogers, KPF, Wilkinson Eyre et al.
Commissioned to refurbish one of the first facility of its kind in the Far
East, within in a five-star hotel, Bali, Indonesia.
Sea water is warmed up to body temperature for all the
treatments.
Construction was completed in November 2004.
Building area: 2700 sqm
Site area: 3600 sqm
Construction cost: US$ 3million
The design introduces a new marketing strategy for the spa.
Spaces are designed not just as rooms where treatments take place, but as
unique surroundings which enhance the experience of genuine healing, a new
indulgence in luxury pampering.
The layout is organised
in zones, which the visitor filters through, and which resemble steps in a
healing process. Every single room and zone is designed as part of a
particular treatment and appears as a marketing tool in the treatment
catalogue.
